![]() ![]() Just trying to clear up some confusion.you are attempting to reinstall OEM XP Home onto a new hard disk and are getting an error message to the effect that you are using an invalid Product Key (PK). Out of interest though, if I can get the software that i know is available to restore damged/corrupted hard drives, how would the information found in the i386 folder be usefull to me? Is the product key stored in this area? ![]() ![]() Therefore I have used one of my old hard drives instead, however I am now stuck at the product id stage. I have tried to format her hard drive once using acronis partion expert using my pc, but this failed, and I have also tried to install windows once on her hard drive, it failed once it had got past the formating stage and started to actually install and set up windows. I think that the computer was put together by her friend whom she bought the pc off. I have not got recovery discs, I only have the xp home cd. What I meant was that her copies of the windows xp home cd and the CoA stuck to her case are the same (to look at) as both my copies of home and professional (both of which I bought and so know are legal), leading me to believe that her copies are legitimate/genuine copies, sorry for the confusion. Thanks for your quick response, however my question may be misleading. ![]()
